The MS 162 is a lightweight, entry-level, petrol chainsaw that is perfect for processing firewood for your log burner and small, maintenance jobs around your home and garden.
At STIHL, we have over 90 years of experience in producing chainsaws, so you can be sure that the MS 162 will deliver an impressive cutting performance. Powered by a STIHL 2-MIX engine, it also benefits from low fuel consumption too.
It’s fitted with a 12” (or 30cm) guide bar and 3/8" P saw chain to give a precise cut when pruning branches or felling small trees. Please note that the design on the guide bar may differ from the one pictured above,
The STIHL anti-vibration system lowers vibrations to the handle, so it's more comfortable to use. It’s also fitted with a transparent fuel and oil tank, so you can see the fuel and oil levels quickly and top up when you need to. Re-tensioning the chain is safe and easy to do too, thanks to the practical side-mounted chain tensioning.
If you also need Personal Protective Equipment to wear with your chainsaw, our Chainsaw Personal Protective Equipment kit is a great option if you are an occasional user. You can easily add this to your bag as well by selecting the chainsaw PPE kit option above.
When using a chainsaw, you must always take the correct precautions. Please fully read the Instruction Manual before using a chainsaw and always wear the correct personal protective equipment.
If you are in any doubt about how to use a chainsaw correctly, we recommend speaking to your local STIHL Approved Dealer first. Many dealers offer a Click & Collect service, where you can order online then collect it in person where a trained member of staff can give you a full handover and instructions on how to operate the machine.
Please note you should never use a chainsaw whilst on a ladder and should only use it in a tree if you have the appropriate qualifications.
