The RMA 253 is a great lawnmower for cutting grass in medium-sized gardens quickly and quietly.

This mower is part of the AP System of battery-powered tools, with interchangeable batteries that can be used in over 25 other tools in the range. It has a durable sheet-steel deck so it's sturdy but still easy to push around the garden thanks to the smooth-running wheels.

It has a 55-litre polymer grass catcher box which has a fill-level indicator on the top, so you can easily see when the box is full. All STIHL lawnmowers are designed to deliver a great cut and collection, which means the box is filled to the brim, and you'll spend less time emptying and get the job done quicker.

For those occasions when you do need to mow for longer, the RMA 253 has a spare battery slot on the machine so you can carry a second fully-charged battery and switch it over in seconds without a trip back to the shed or garage.

The eco mode to maximise battery life, easy-to-use central cutting height adjustment lever and foldable handlebar also combine to make this an ideal machine for comfortable and straightforward mowing.

  • Area covered using recommended AP 300 S battery: 370m²

FAQs

QWhat size garden will it maintain?

A: With an AP 300 S battery, the RMA 253 lawn mower will cut approximately 370m2 of lawn.

QHow long does it take to charge?

A: To fully charge an AP 300 S battery with an AL 101 charger, it takes 300 minutes, but you can charge it up to 80% in 230 minutes. We also have quick chargers available that can charge your batteries faster.

QWhat battery does it use?

A: The mower is powered by an interchangeable 36V Lithium-Ion AP battery.

QAre the batteries interchangeable?

A: Yes, all of the tools in the AP System use the same style of battery. There are a variety of batteries in the range, with different capacities. For the RMA 253, we recommend the AP 300 battery.

QWhat should I wear when using this mower?

A: We recommend that you wear sturdy boots or shoes and snug-fitting clothes.

QHow big is the grass catcher box?

A: The RMA 253 has a 55 litre grass catcher box.

QWill the blade need sharpening?

A: Keeping the blade sharp will give you a precise finish on your lawn. If you notice that the tips of the grass look torn after mowing and the cut isn't as neat, the blade may need sharpening. Our approved STIHL dealers can do this for you - find your nearest one here: https://stihlapproveddealer.co.uk/

QWhat is the cutting width of the RMA 253?

A: It has a cutting width of 51cm.

QHow do I know when the grass box is full?

A: Just keep an eye on the grass level indicator on the top of the catcher box - when the flap drops down, the box is full and should be emptied.

QCan I use this lawn mower on wet grass?

A: Yes, you can - STIHL lawn mowers are designed to deliver a great cut even when it's been raining, thanks to the airflow generated by the blade, the shape of the deck and the vents in the grass catcher box.
